Active Street On Pierce

Everyone is welcome to join these free community events. People are welcome to bring their bikes/scooters to ride on the street during our event times. Snacks & beverages will be provided.

Active Street on Pierce Kick-Off – May 9th
Active Street on Pierce is starting up again with a kick-off on May 9th! There will be a guided bike ride led by Bike Fed & Oak Leaf Familia. We encourage neighbors to bring their bikes to join us! If you don’t own a bike, the Urban Ecology Center will be providing a limited amount of bikes to rent. There will also be art-making on the street with Artists Working in Education (AWE). We will begin to brainstorm the next set of words to add as the temporary art installation along Pierce st. (Street will be closed off between 22ND-23RD).
Art Making Workshop with AWE – June 13th, June 27th, July 11th
Join us on continuing the art installation of words along Pierce st.! On these dates we will be painting another two identified words that resonate and spread a message in Clarke Square neighborhood. This project is in the efforts of using community art as a way to slow down traffic. Come make your make and re-imagine the streets-cape with art!
Celebration of Project Completion – July 25th
Come join us to celebrate the art-installation and neighbors involved in the Active Street on Pierce! We will have music, food, and art-making with Artists Working in Education to celebrate. (Street will be closed off between 22ND-23RD).

Todos son bienvenidos a unirse a estos eventos comunitarios gratuitos. Las personas pueden traer sus bicicletas/scooters para andar en la calle durante el horario de nuestro evento. Se proporcionarán refrigerios y bebidas.

Calle Activa en Pierce comenzará nuevamente el 9 de mayo! Habrá un paseo guiado en bicicleta dirigido por Bike Fed y Oak Leaf Familia. ¡Animamos a los vecinos a que traigan sus bicicletas y se unan a nosotros! Si no tiene una bicicleta, el Urban Ecology Center tendra una cantidad limitada de bicicletas para alquilar. También habrá creación de arte en la calle con Artists Working in Education (AWE). Comenzaremos a pensar en el siguiente conjunto de palabras para agregar como instalación de arte temporal a lo largo de la calle Pierce (La calle estará cerrada entre la 22 y 23).

En estas fechas estaremos pintando dos palabras identificadas que resuenan y difunden un mensaje en el vecindario de Clarke Square. Este proyecto busca utilizar el arte comunitario como una forma de calmar el tráfico. ¡Ven a hacer tu marca y reimagina las calles con arte!
