Journey the Atlantic / Viajando el Atlántico

June 3 @ 7:00 pm

Bembé welcomes you to our biggest production of the year, “Journey the Atlantic/Viajando el Atlántico,” a celebration of Afro-Latino musical culture!
Follow us on a journey from West Africa through Latin America and present day United States through music and dance, and enjoy performances by our Bembé youth and guest performers including our master artist-in-residence, Alberto “Beto” Torrens, Samba da Vida, and more! This is an intergenerational, all-star line-up!
This year’s celebration will take place at Marquette University’s Tony and Lucille Weasler Auditorium, 1506 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, 53233. This performance is family-friendly, FREE, and open to the community. We hope you join us as we bring back one of our favorite productions.
Thank you to our generous sponsors: Marquette University, MPS Partnerships for the Arts and Humanities, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and the Wisconsin Humanities.
Funded in part by a grant from Wisconsin Humanities, with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
