Learning from the Masters is funded in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Humanities, with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. DJ Bizzon, a rising star on the national DJ scene, is best known for his creative edits, skillful turntablism and infectious energy – qualities that have built his reputation as a “DJ’s DJ” and a crowd favorite. He’s performed live in front of 20,000+ people opening for artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Kendrick Lamar, Future, J. Cole, Migos, Travis Scott, DJ Jazzy Jeff and many more. Bizzon is a member of the world champion Milwaukee Bucks DJ Crew and a producer and editor for one of the world’s largest record pools, DJCity.
Live performance by Polyrhythmic Roots Cecilio Negron Jr – Drums Ras Amerlock – Bass Aaron Konkol – Keys/Melodica Guy Fiorentini – Guitar Founded in 2022 this all-star collective of musicians presents unique interpretations of classic Caribbean musical stylings like roots reggae, dancehall, and traditional island culture music fused with contemporary jazz, pop and soul. This ensemble’s unique approach to Caribbean melodies and rhythms combined with jazz improvisation, sets a beautiful Caribbean vibe, inspires listeners, moves the dancers to dance and aims to strengthen the Milwaukee music scene by keeping the rich traditions of Caribbean Roots/Reggae music in Milwaukee alive.

UWM Libraries Director Michael Doylen and Roberto Hernandez Center Director Alberto Maldonado will begin the event; Jesus Salas and Dr. Patricia T. Najera will offer historical remarks; UWM Librarian Heidi Anoszko will present the oral history project; and there will be a special musical performance by Felipe Rodriguez.
