Latin American Children’s Book Creators

In collaboration with the International Youth Library (Munich, Germany) and Translation & Interpreting Studies (UW-Milwaukee), the UW-Milwaukee Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) will offer a summer series of six acclaimed Latin American children’s and young adult writers and illustrators, moderated by international children’s book specialists who know their work well.

Participating writers and Illustrators: Antonio Malpica (Mexico); Isol (Argentina); María Teresa Andruetto (Argentina); María José Ferrada (Chile); Roger Mello (Brazil); and Gusti (Argentina).

A collaboration between the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS), University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with the International Youth Library (Munich, Germany) and UWM Translation & Interpreting Studies. CLACS is a Title VI National Resource Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

This May Day, join Voces de la Frontera Action and VDLF Essential Workers Rights Network to demand that Congress and the Biden Administration keep their promises to:
*STOP DEPORTATIONS, *COVID RECOVERY FOR ALL, and *CITIZENSHIP FOR ALL.
May 1 marks the first 100 days of the Biden Administration’s time in office and there will be demonstrations all across the country.
Voces is counting on you to show that Wisconsin is present and in the fight!
Meet at the new Voces Building in the heart of Milwaukee’s South Side, 733 W. Historic Mitchell St. Milwaukee, WI 53204, for a community block party before we march downtown to rally at Senator Ron Johnson’s office.

10am: Community Block Party celebrating the contributions and sacrifices of immigrant essential workers (Receive T-shirts and merch!)
12pm: Demonstration leaves from the new Voces Office (733 W. Historic Mitchell St.)
