De La Buena: Where We Left Off

December 3 @ 7:30 pm

Latino Arts, Inc. is thrilled welcome De La Buena to the Latino Arts stage this December!
Join Latino Arts Inc. for a night of Latin Jazz with De La Buena! Employing jazz harmonic sensibility and a deep-seated love of diverse cultures, De La Buena explores the textures and rhythms of Latin musics of the Americas with roots planted firmly in African Diasporic traditions. Growing from a trio into a powerful 10-piece over the last six years, De La Buena has been electrifying audiences with their own brand of Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz.

*In order to keep our audience members safe, we strongly encourage face masks to be work during the concert when not eating or drinking.

Pandemic Memorial Installation

October 10 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm CDT

La Familia de Arte, Inc. and Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative have worked with the City of Milwaukee to install 12 tiled concrete posts between the street and walkway of S. Cesar E. Chavez Drive, just south of National Avenue. These small pillars, a little under 3 feet tall, will be cemented with beautifully patterned tiles that have been created by the 30 local artists of La Familia, a community arts group in the Clarke Square neighborhood.
Besides adding beauty to this growing center of murals, landscaping, and ceramic arts in the hub of the Latinx business district, these pillars will be a memorial to the pandemic that feature the combined voices of 1800 residents of the city. The theme on the east side of Cesar Chavez Dr. is “Everyday Heroes of the Pandemic,” and hosts the inscriptions on the tiles of 900 youth and adults, honoring their everyday heroes. On the west side, neighbors inscribed the names of their loved ones, the “Fallecidos,” who died during the pandemic
