Opening Reception: Day of the Dead Ofrendas

November 6, 2020 @ 6:00 pm 8:30 pm CST

Join us as we celebrate Dia de los Muertos with our Latino Arts favorite, Day of the Dead Ofrendas Exhibit!

About this Event
Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican celebration, is a day to celebrate, remember and prepare special foods in honor of those who have departed. On this day in Mexico, the streets near the cemeteries are filled with decorations of papel picado, flowers, candy calaveras (skeletons and skulls), and parades.

In order to celebrate, the families make altars and place ofrendas (offerings) of food such as pan de muertos baked in shapes of skulls and figures, candles, incense, yellow marigolds known as Cemazuchitl and most importantly, a photo of the departed soul is placed on the altar.
This special exhibit is a favorite Latino Arts tradition, featuring ofrendas of local artists, community members and students. We are thrilled to welcome visitors back to the Latino Arts Inc. Gallery for this beautiful exhibit!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to our social distancing efforts tickets are limited and PRE-REGISTRATION is required!
