With the start of summer, comes the start of summer concerts and music in the park! Music is an essential part of most Latino cultures, rich in historical significance, and central to all Latino life. But before you start enjoying our great local music scene, why not learn more about it? What are the cultural origins of samba, salsa, son jarocho, cumbia, and merengue? How are they similar? How are they unique? Where did these musical genres come from and how are they kept alive today?
