1st Latino Economic Unsummit: Breaking the Box!
September 20 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm UTC
The Latino Chamber of Commerce of SE Wisconsin (LCCSEW) is calling for the 1st Latino Economic Unsummit with a focus on the Southeastern Wisconsin region. This is a unique opportunity of being part of structural and meaningful change to the Latino entrepreneurial ecosystem in our state led by Latino entrepreneurs.
Since its inception, LCCSEW has been holding business listening sessions in our service area and we have learned that there are key factors impairing the growth and the scaling up of Latino-owned enterprises.
Latino Entrepreneurs are 50% more inclined to start a business yet 35% our business are smaller in size and revenues than the general business population (Standford Graduate School of Business, 2017). Additionally, a recent Wisconsin Policy Forum Study commissioned by HPGM, found that Latinos account for all the net population growth in Milwaukee-Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington Counties (2000-2017). Yet we lag in wages and educational attainment.
This event will convene policy makers, community leaders, corporate sector leaders interested in having meaningful engaging conversations with entrepreneurs that may address:
Access to health care for small business
Access to public sector workforce development programs
Recruitment and retention of qualified employees
Equity in Access to Business opportunities offered through public and private supplier diversity programs
Access to banking and competitively priced capital
Immigration and the Workforce
